Portuguese Water Dogs Northeast (PWDsNE) is a regional breed club for our wonderful Portuguese Water Dogs and their owners. Our members come from all over the New England region as well as nationwide. We are sanctioned by our national club, the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America (www.PWDCA.org) and partner with other regional clubs to support the national activities such as the annual Portuguese Water Dog National Specialty, a week of events celebrating everything PWD that rotates across the country each year.
Our diverse membership consists of pet owners, breeders, performance and conformation participants from all walks of life with varying levels of experience and knowledge. PWDsNE is committed to the continued health and well-being of our unique breed. Whether you are adding a new puppy or rescue to your household, are new to the area, looking for information, training or activities, we want to hear from you. Our members will gladly share their love and knowledge of PWDs. Whatever your area of interest: activities, home life, sports, feeding, training, grooming, health, competition, or simply learning about the breed, please get in touch. While many of our activities take place in southern Maine, we support and sponsor events throughout the region. During the summer we host a terrific water trial weekend which consists of multiple levels of competition specific to PWDs. Come learn the history and see what the dogs were bred to do. You can read about all our activities on this web site. PWDsNE is an active and fun group. Come join us!
